Round-up for Fri-yay Fast Favorites
A quick summary of exciting news past, present, and upcoming!
It’s been a hot minute since I blogged consistently and shared some Fri-yay Fast Favorites, and there’s a lot of exciting news that I’ve been sharing on social media, but I never did share it in one coherent space! So here’s a super quick summary and round-up of some of the things going on in my life and some of my current favorites that I wanted to share with you.
I thru-ran the Art Loeb Trail back in July!
I’ll share more on the Art Loeb Trail and that whole experience, but the Art Loeb Trail is a 30 mile trail outside of Brevard, NC that features rugged wilderness, beautiful mountain balds, and lots of tough climbs.
Note: Brevard and Asheville and other areas of western North Carolina were hit particularly hard by tropical depression Fred, so there’s been significant damage and flooding on and around this trail since I ran Art Loeb. My heart goes out families affected by the flooding, and I encourage anyone to assist as they can with the recovery efforts.
I took photos of Sir Walter Miler again and saw some fantastic performances from local clubs and coaches and the elite men and women!
Look for past years of Sir Walter Miler? Check them out here!
I had a ton of fun at my first Ragnar trail event in West Virginia! (More on that in a later post!)
My friend Heather and I ran 50 miles together!!
Assuming our submission is accepted, we’ll soon be Fastest Known Time record holders for the 50 mile Raleigh Greenway Loop!
As part of our 50 miler attempt, we are fundraising for Girls on the Run of the Triangle! Girls on the Run empowers girls through physical, emotional, and social skill building, and the fall registration opens soon!
Our fundraiser is open through the end of August — if you have the interest and means to support us we’d love if you made a contribution so we can help sponsor scholarships for local girls!
And if you’d like to learn more about our “why” please check out this article posted on the Girls on the Run website!

Come run trails with me!
We had a fantastic summer trails training program this year with Fleet Feet Carrboro/Durham and we’re so excited to extend that with a fall trails training program!
The program starts on Sunday at 8am! Come run trails with me!
Registration for the second annual Women Run the Vote! is now open!
This virtual relay is running from September 20 through 26 and focuses on indigenous sovereignty and environmental justice.
My first 💯 miler attempt is in less than a month!! Stay tuned for more details!
And I’ve got lots of exciting races lined up for 2022! Keep an eye out for more details and a big surprise!
And I’m a race ambassador for the Highball to Thurmond ultra in West Virginia next May! I’ll share more details later but basically — run across our newest national park and try to catch the train back to the start line!
I hope to share more details on a lot of these updates later, but if you have any questions or ideas, let me know! Thanks!
Pilot Mountain State Park in North Carolina is a popular place for hikers and runners, and is one of my favorite spots. It is close to Winston-Salem and has a very distinctive profile that lends it nicely as a landmark for navigation, and can be easily seen from some places in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
