Outdoor Photography and Adventure Blog

Every adventure has a story. My story started after college when I realized I craved the outdoors after hours at an office job every week. This craving for the outdoors turned into running half marathons and hiking, which then turned into long backpacking trips, rock climbing, biking, and training for a trail ultramarathon. From beginner to badass, every new adventure adds to the story of a lifetime.

Hi! I'm Liz! If I sit still for too long I get restless. If I get too restless I'll eventually disappear into the wild. When I do that I always come back with a story and some photos. Want to connect or go on a hike? Fill out the form and let's do this!

This is a room full of books by or about Goethe. Yes, I get that excited about German literature.

It started with a moment of frustration here, a bit of exasperation there...

"Wow! You're so brave! I would never be able to do this!" or "You're a runner? I could never run a half marathon!"

I'm always amazed and overwhelmed by the number of people who say "I can't...", whether it's people confounded by technology (I'm a Business Analyst by day) or if it's people who say they could never run, hike, bike, climb, or adventure out alone, or if it's people who somehow imply that they wouldn't and I shouldn't do something.

What should I expect with this blog?

I want to tell the story of real, genuine people who are willing to take a chance and try something. Anything! Because all of us are amazing and deep and can do so much more than we think we can. We can do it!

If there’s one thing I want you to take away from this blog it’s the idea that, “Yes, I can do that.” Shout it from the mountaintops and be bold in your empowerment, or just let it be that quiet voice in the back of your mind that nudges you along, always there and always encouraging. You can do this. We can do it. We can do it together. This isn’t a trope. This isn’t an empty, worn-out gesture that’s been dragged through the mud until we no longer see and believe it. “We can!” It’s real. Believe in it! Believe in it so hard and believe in yourself so hard that nothing can pry your belief from you. If there’s one thing I believe in it’s you. And yes you can do it.

Say yes to this adventure.

Tell Me More

I am a writer, photographer, runner, hiker, biker, climber, soccer player, whatever-inspires-me-that-day adventurer. And oh yeah, I sometimes do business analysis.

I am a member of the Oiselle Volée and am training for my sixth half marathon.

I love neon athletic gear.

I'm based in Durham, NC. I love the artistry of Durham, the awareness of its brightleaf history and its struggle to rebrand itself as a cultural hotbed.

I grew up in rural Georgia and North Carolina, and I went to a boarding school for nerds in Durham for high school. I don't understand any pop culture references before 2007. It's a long story.

I'm a Tar Heel and I studied German literature, biology, and clarinet performance in college. I worked through college and did way too many activities, because who needs sleep?

Coffee and I have a long history together. Very long. Like a barista has known my favorite drink order since I was sixteen kinda long history.

Any more questions? Feel free to ask me! Otherwise I'll see you out there in the wide world.

Where did you get that awesome logo?

My friend Qiudi designed it for me! She's amazing, and you should check out her work here: http://qzeeprints.com/
