Meghan, Chris, and kiddo Lawson are so hip and fun, and so when they asked for an urban family portrait session I knew we had to find a place just as cool as them. After a little bit of sugar from the cake smash we rounded up the troops in a fresh change of clothes for some pictures in downtown Raleigh.

Babies and cake, babies and cake! What can be sweeter? I was super excited to do the cake smash session for Meghan and Chris's cool kid Lawson (seriously, this kid is so cool). Check out the images today on the blog!
The castle loomed large in the train window even from a distance. Sitting on a hill nestled by its quaint town it was an imposing place. A castle! A real life royalty-and-feudalism sort of castle with a bloody medieval history and a deep well under a rusty grate and a garderobe and coats of arms and rough-hewn stone and at least nine Van Dycks, all portraits of the castle’s noble family members. A castle with its own medieval chapel and an armory room with a Medici table and Queen Victoria’s coronation homage chair and a Casali and at least three Gainsboroughs and an execution order signed by Queen Elizabeth I for Thomas Howard, the 4th Duke of Norfolk.
Kentucky and bourbon. Some things just go together. And along the Kentucky River the land flows sweet with amber liquid.
I was so excited when a couple of my good friends announced their engagement! Seriously, these two are awesome - I know them from work and from running groups. These two rockstars helped me get through several races from my first half marathon at OBX to this year's Tar Heel 10 Miler. So when they asked me if I'd photograph their engagement session I was so stoked! They decided to set their engagement photos at the American Tobacco Trail, which is important to them as a place they frequently use for training runs. In one section of the trail there's a scenic bridge over Interstate 40 where Travis proposed to Kristen, so one evening we headed there to do a little celebration via photos. The highlights are in this post! Congrats, Travis and Kristen!
This weekend for Mother's Day I did some labor of love for my mom's garden, and afterwards we played with some puppies! Well, no one wants to see pictures of me sweaty and dirty and covered in mulch. But everyone wants to see puppies!
Are you excited? Because oh gosh am I excited! One of my best friends had her second baby recently and she asked me to take newborn photos. Seriously, I was more than stoked in the days leading up to the photo session, and I am more than stoked to finally share the pictures with you!
