Richmond Marathon and Half Marathon 2021 Race Recap

Plus a link to a gallery with free downloads of print and web resolution images from the race!

I was injured for the 2021 Richmond Marathon, so I went up with a couple friends to spectate, cheer, and take some pictures of so many of our friends and teammates racing that day in the half and full marathon! I noted a few highlights of the day, and I included a link to the full gallery where print and web resolution images are available for free download!

The Vicarious Experience of Photographing Mountain Biking

The Vicarious Experience of Photographing Mountain Biking

Local mountain biking group offers events for riders with wide variety of experience

I don't have a mountain bike. It's probably a good thing seeing as 1) I regularly wreck my road bike on straight, paved, and unobstructed trails; 2) I already don't have time for the bajillion activities I already do; and 3) they're expensive and do I really need another expensive hobby? But McCrae mountain bikes and I'm always jealous and slightly terrified of the bent wheels he brings home from rides or the insane Rampage videos he likes to show me to simultaneously make my skin crawl with fear and my eyes go wide with excitement. So recently when I got the chance to take photos of mountain biking at Lake Crabtree that anticipation and excitement welled up.

Working Hard, or Hardly Working?

The launch of Liz Goodman Photography

Helllooooo?! Anybody home? I feel like I've dropped off the face of the planet recently, and you'd think it's because I'm a total slacker and I'm not doing anything, but hey! I've got exciting news! You know how I'm really into photography? (You knew that, right??) And you know how sometimes I do family or other portrait photography? Yeah, an adventure blog isn't the place for that, so I'm super stoked to announce that my photography work will now be available on my new site Liz Goodman Photography! Don't worry, The Restless Wild isn't going away, but it will stay solely focused on all things adventure - running, hiking, climbing, backpacking, and my usual shenanigans. And you'll still see great nature and adventure photography here! But all things family, baby, and portrait photography will be posted on Liz Goodman Photography.

Baby Stella 6 Months Milestone Session Blooper Reel

The other day I posted photos from a recent 6 month old baby milestone session. What a fun session! I loved it so much, but I keep coming back to a few photos that I didn't share in the original post. These images didn't make the final cut but they just make me so happy with all their goofy outtakes. This is by far my best blooper reel yet, and I wanted to share with you some of the fun. Note these aren't final polished photos, but enjoy the spirit of the blooper photos!

New Gym CrossFit Homeward is Space for Hard Work and Play

There's nothing quite like a high intensity workout to get your blood and endorphins flowing first thing in the morning, and now there's a new CrossFit gym in Chapel Hill for exactly that. CrossFit Homeward celebrated its grand opening on Saturday with good food, good friends, and good workouts. The new space is located in University Mall off South Estes Drive next to Southern Season in Chapel Hill. Leading up to the grand opening I spent a week getting to know the gym, its community, and trying out some workouts, and found a place full of hard work and play.

Spurling Family Portraits for Holiday Cards

Emily and I have been friends for almost 14 years. 14 years! We met as freshmen in high school and roomed together freshman year in college (it was great - so great we decided for the sake of our grades to never live together again, ha!). I suffered through a fire ant attack during her wedding and I've celebrated birthdays and holidays with her and her two kiddos and even took newborn photos of her baby Stella. I adore her and her family, and was so happy to catch up with them for a quick photo session. We raced the setting sun (Daylight Savings is the bane of a natural light photographer with a day job) to get some cute holiday photos. Time is running out, so if you want holiday photos, book your session now!
